(01)
MATERIAL INTEGRITY
We begin with the material—not as a means to an end, but as a collaborator in the process. Stone, clay, metal, and wood each have their own language, shaped by earth, time, and human touch. We honor their origin and allow their natural qualities to guide the design. In every piece, we aim to preserve what is already there—letting the material speak before imposing form.
(02)
CULTURAL CONTINUITY
We see design as a vessel for memory. Rather than break from the past, our work seeks to extend it—reinterpreting inherited forms and techniques through contemporary eyes. Each object and space holds cultural weight, shaped by the context in which it was made. In doing so, we preserve not just materials, but the deeper stories they carry.
(03)
COLLABORATIVE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Our studio exists in conversation—with artisans, techniques, and territories. We work closely with craftspeople across Guatemala, integrating their ancestral knowledge into each project. These collaborations are built on mutual respect and shared authorship, where design is not a solitary act but a collective gesture. Every piece carries the trace of many hands and the richness of a living tradition.

SLOW DESIGN ETHOS
We see design as a vessel for memory. Rather than break from the past, our work seeks to extend it—reinterpreting inherited forms and techniques through contemporary eyes. Each object and space holds cultural weight, shaped by the context in which it was made. In doing so, we preserve not just materials, but the deeper stories they carry.
WHAT WE
STAND FOR
MEET
ESTEBAN
PAREDES

Esteban Paredes is an architect, interior, product designer and the founder of Estudio Cálido—a design studio based in Guatemala City. His practice moves between disciplines, but always returns to one central idea: that design should begin with honesty and emerge from the context it inhabits. At the core of his work is a deep respect for materials and the stories they carry.
Through Estudio Cálido, Esteban has developed a body of collectible design that explores the relationship between form, craft, and memory. His pieces are shaped using locally sourced materials—clay, stone, metal—transformed through traditional techniques and guided by a contemporary sensibility. Each object is the result of a conversation: between designer and artisan, material and intention, time and touch.
His commitment to collaboration has led him to work closely with artisans from different regions of Guatemala, including those from Chinautla and Santa Lucía Milpas Altas. These partnerships are not only central to the studio’s philosophy, but also to its process, allowing each piece to hold both cultural continuity and quiet innovation.
Esteban’s work has been exhibited in Guatemala City, Mexico City, Madrid, Milan and Berlin reflecting the depth and richness of Guatemalan design on an international stage. As creative director of Estudio Cálido, he continues to explore how objects can be both useful and poetic—bridging the everyday with the timeless, the local with the universal.
